The Pixel4Scrum is acompletely digital version of the Lego4Scrum, a game that allows you to discover Scrum in a few hours in a playful workshop(serious game). If you want to know more about it, I suggest you read this article from our blog, published earlier this year.

A new version of Pixel4Scrum was shared this summer, with a few adaptations here. You can still find the game board and instructions in the Google Drive directory here.

Find Pixel4Scrum

The game board is available in a lighter version + in a wall format

The Pixel4Scrum game board becomes available in two versions:

  • the complete (original) version ;
  • a new lighter version, which only contains the construction zones (development environments and city).

Why a light version?

Some of the actions to perform in the game board are not very practical in the Google Sheets tool. I'm thinking in particular of planning or regularly updating the visual management. It was necessary to cut and paste precisely some boxes in some tabs, move them to the right place in another tab, etc.

Moreover, with the return to face-to-face, some teams might be tempted to do the build in pixels, but the rest (backlog, planning, visual management, retrospective) outside the tool (for example, on physical boards).

So now you have three choices:

  • use the full version of the Pixel4Scrum game board to continue to centralize everything in one tool;
  • choose the light version of the Pixel4Scrum game board and perform a number of actions on physical boards;
  • play with the light version of the Pixel4Scrum game board and perform a number of actions on digital collaborative whiteboards (e.g. Klaxoon, Miro, Mural...).

For those who will make the third choice, you can use the tool of your choice of course, it's your business. However, you should know that for Mural users, you have a Mural template available here that you can duplicate in your space and use very quickly.

Other changes made to Pixel4Scrum

You can find the other improvements made to the game in the PDF document available here, in the release notes at the very end of the document.

Very quickly:

  • Sprint reviews are now presented to one (or more) stakeholders, to try not to create confusion in the minds of participants who used to present their achievements to the Mayor at the end of the sprint;
  • Teams are no longer required to build in their own building zone (column). They can build wherever they think is best, which increases their creativity;
  • the rules document has been slightly shortened to be more to the point. The short version (supposed to fit in about 1.5 hours) is now presented in the variants so as not to weigh down the basic document.

At SmartView, we facilitate this game in some training sessions or in customized seminars. And it's always a good time shared between the players and us!

And the game remains at the disposal of all the people who wish to use or modify it, even within the framework of a commercial use (equivalent Creative Commons license CC BY 4.0). It is very likely that it will evolve in the future, according to the feedback we will receive and that we invite you, in the same spirit, to share with as many people as possible.

We hope to see you soon to share this moment with you!
